Just when you thought it wouldn’t get any whackier….

It does.

Dave Marash, the veteran “Nightline” correspondent who left the program late last year, has landed at Al-Jazeera International, the new English-language news channel that will be spun off from Al-Jazeera later this spring.

The Arabic-language Al-Jazeera - although hugely popular throughout the Arab world - was controversial for its alleged anti-U.S. bias since 9/11. “I don’t think [the controversy] is entirely dead and gone,” Marash said. “But conventional and, dare I say, informed opinion is that the channel is thoroughly respected.”

Yes, according to Newsday.com, it is only alleged that Al Jazeera is biased against the US.  I can understand how the media would miss this bias, since it’s the same bias they hold and hey, if you agree with me there is no bias, right? Apparently the guy who used to be on “Nightline” think Al Jazeera is thoroughly respected (while, of course, in his arrogance pointing out that if you disagree it is because you are neither conventional nor informed, you right wing bigot you).

So let’s see.  ABC = Al Jazeera. Bias?  What bias?

According to this article, we now have a simple solution to cure global warming.

The culprits are plants.

They produce about 10 to 30 percent of the annual methane found in the atmosphere, according to researchers at the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg, Germany.

Keppler and his colleagues discovered that living plants emit 10 to 100 times more methane than dead plants.

Therefore, the conclusion is simple.  Kill all the plants.

Granted, a study that finds something produces “10 to 30 percent” doesn’t seem all that accurate in the first place.  I wonder what would happen if I budgeted based on ”it’s about 10 to 30 percent of my income” expenditures.  But I think we already know what would happen then.  It sort of reminds me of when scientists date rocks and say, “This rock is between 3 and 4 billion years old.”  Color me confused, but that’s a billion year range and approximately 25% error rate, right?  How accurate can these tests be if they have that much range?

But of course scientific dogma requires that we not question scientific dogma.  It’s better to just stick with the fact that scientists date rocks by what fossils are in the rocks, and they date the fossils by what rocks they’re in.  And meanwhile, we’ll kill all the plants and blow up the entire Earth so that no one will ever suffer again (if everyone is dead, no one suffers).

I just read the following from the obvious bulwark of Conservative thought paper, The Washington Post–forgive me as I choke back my laughter–the following:

Liberals fear Alito’s potential impact on the court because Bush tapped him to succeed retiring Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who has sided with liberal justices in several high-profile 5 to 4 decisions over the years. Alito, a New Jersey-based federal appellate judge for the past 15 years, praised O’Connor’s work ethic yesterday without addressing her often moderate views.

Now perhaps you might think the amazing thing in the article is that the Washington Post actually admits there are liberal justices.  But that’s not really all that was admitted in this paragraph!

Look at the first sentence.  “Sandra Day O’Conner…has sided with liberal justices in several high-profile 5 to 4 decisions over the years.”  Now look at the second: “her often moderate views.”

That’s right.  The definition of “moderate” is “siding with liberal justices” according to the Washington Post.

Yes we have no bias to sell to you today.

And these people still wonder why no one takes them seriously anymore.  The bias is so transparent now it’s not even really all that fun in pointing it out.

Just when you think maybe scientists are smart after all, they go and do something stupid to prove they are not:

British scientists are seeking permission to create hybrid embryos in the lab by fusing human cells with rabbit eggs.

For the love. Why a rabbit? Do we really want Harvey walking around? It’s bad enough that you’re going to be executing innocent human beings, but why do you have to harm the fluffy little rabbit too? Let’s get some priorities here, scientists.

George Bush is a racist.  At Alumni Hall in Dartmouth, Bush said:

There’s far too much homophobia in the African-American community … there’s far too much misogyny in the African-American community.

This needs to be investigated.  This needs to be stamped out!  Racism cannot stand in America.

Oh wait. What’s that you say?  It wasn’t Bush who said that?  It was Al Sharpton who said that?

Oh well I guess it isn’t racism then.
