Whew. I got my record today (well, the record since I started keeping track on June 23). 1,100 yards! That gives me a total of 5,700 yards, leaving 1,754,300 yards to go. More importantly, I was only 200 yards shy of getting a mile already this week. Unfortunately, since I had to wait for a lane to open up (yes, more swimming classes—I can’t wait for summer to be over so they’ll at least close the “free” section of the pool, which takes two lanes too), I didn’t have time to try to push for those extra 200 yards. Although I’m not sure I would have made it anyway as my left calf muscle was starting to “twitch” a bit.
Tomorrow I’m planning to do more. Maybe 1,500 yards. But if I make it that far, I might just have to force myself to make it to 1,800 to own the mile. Then again, I don’t know if I’ll be too tired after tonight’s swim to do a good job tomorrow. But at this rate, I think the latest I’ll have my mile will be sometime next week.
